Your Pre-Wedding Beauty Timeline
Sure, we all want to look our very best on our wedding day, right? But that's certainly easier to talk about than do. Hiring a professional stylist will help, but in this post, I am going to share beauty secrets from 20+ years of helping brides look beautiful. Here is a timeline we put together for getting everything right on your big day:
Six Months Before:
You're six months out and you know you can tighten up and lose a lot of weight in 24 weeks. What's your goal? Tone a particular area? Go down a dress size? Whatever your goal, make it real by documenting it somewhere. Just remember - keep it reasonable to avoid getting discouraged!
Start by integrating exercise into your daily routine. The good news? You only need 15-20 minutes a day to make a big difference on your wedding day. Why not start by walking or join an aerobic dance group?
The next step is to start some trial experiments. We're talking about eyebrow tinting, spray-on tans, facials, and hair styles. While you are still half a year out from your wedding, you have time to find out what works and what doesn't. Work with your wedding day stylist, so you can both see what you like.
Next, start drinking enough water. After all, this should be part of your regimen already. Drinking eight glasses of water will not only curb your appetite, but it will also brighten your complexion.
Finally, start fine-tuning your diet. I am not saying to give up the foods you love (yet) - just make a few decisions to decrease your caloric intake, like opting for healthier side dishes and drinking only water with your meals.
Three Months Before:
You'll enjoy this part - book a mani-pedi. This is the first of a series of appointments you need to keep regularly between now and your wedding. Doing so will ensure, your feet, hands, and nails look amazing.
Next set up any initial intensive styling appointments. For example, if you are having your hair straightened or curled, this is the best time to make it happen. This way, you can just schedule a quick touch up a couple of weeks before your wedding. Smart, right?
Now is the time to pump up the excessive routine. Add another 20 minutes of exercise to the routine you started three months ago. This will give your metabolism a kick-start and help you reach your target weight and tone.
Finally, it comes together - it's time to schedule your hair and makeup trial run. You've tried a few options, and now it's time to go for the full effect look. Ask your stylist to do your makeup and hair just as he or she would on your wedding day and make a note of how long it holds up.
One Month Before:
Now is the time for fine-tuning your look. Have your eyebrows groomed and trim back your split ends. Put together an emergency beauty kit with the cosmetics you need for your big day.
Two Weeks Before:
Two weeks out! Don't panic - just get a facial now to make certain your skin is back to normal by the big day. Do your roots need coloring? Now is the time to touch them up.
Although most wedding photographers will whiten your teeth in Photoshop, it doesn't hurt to bring the real deal to your day. Stop by your dentist and talk about cleaning and whitening options.
One Week Before:
It's time to get down to business. Stop all alcohol intake and reduce all sodium intake. This will reduce all puffiness and swelling, and you'll feel fantastic.
Two Days Before:
Get a last mani-pedi and follow the shampoo and conditioner routine per your stylist.
Your Wedding Day:
